Birthday Bird Pop-up

Image
Lost Coast Designs is hosting an Animal Theme Challenge for September. This fun pop-up card features the new stamp Winged Bird. Scroll to end of post to see video of this card in action! Making a pop-up card is much easier than you might think. The trick is a small, folded piece of cardstock with two cuts. This becomes the base of the cut out stamped image which allows it to fold down then pop up when opened.  I recommend using cardstock with a fun print on both sides as your card base, then cutting a smaller piece of white cardstock to fit inside that you'll decorate as the backdrop for your pop-up image. I love the Brush Strokes stamp sheet for creating backgrounds. Choose a larger size stamp when making a pop-up card. It will make the biggest impact when opened! The Winged Bird stamp is a great choice. Those spread wings just scream "Look at me!"  Add a sentiment from the Party Words  stamp sheet and your card is ready to go! Kids and adults alike will love the pop-

Mother Goose

There's just one more day to submit your entry to the Lost Coast Portal to Creativity for their Children's Challenge . Perhaps this Mother Goose card can be a source of inspiration. Did you know Mother Goose was a real person? The internet debates a bit on who was the REAL Mother Goose, but one thing for certain is she came up with so many catchy rhymes. So. Many. This card highlights just a few that may be known to you. I'm sure some will debate whether my handwriting is good enough to feature on the front of a card. Is it perfect? No. Would I like it to be better? Sure. All I know is I had an idea in my head that I wanted to get onto the card front, and writing it out by hand was the resource I had to make it happen. Follow along with these photos to see how I created this card. The Lost Coast Designs catalogue has lots of Mother Goose stamps . Be sure to check them out!

August: The Children's Challenge

Image
Hello stamping friends! My Design Team debut is here as we hit mid August. This month you'll see three cards I created based on the Lost Coast Portal to Creativity " Children's Challenge ." I created this Alice in Wonderland card as "inspiration" for the event. My plan is to keep "inspiration" projects a bit simpler, something that someone could make based on just looking at the photo. I used one of the Four Alices  stamps from the Lost Coast Designs catalogue.  The rest is just some fun flamingo paper, ribbon, and a paper flower sticker from the Dollar Store. There are two more beautiful inspiration projects here  from fellow designers Darlene and Kathi. Submit a stamped creation to the Lost Coast Portal To Creativity and have a chance to win the monthly prize! Entries are due by August 31. Join in the fun! Come back on August 18 and 30 for blog tutorials on my two additional Children's theme cards.

Take a moment to look through my art galleries to see what is possible with rubber (or silicone) stamps and an ink pad. The possibilities know no bounds!
